WPD Canine Unit
A trained canine is valuable to law enforcement. In order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Walhalla Police department, the Canine Unit provides a highly trained canine team to protect persons and property in Walhalla.
Kimber started with WPD in August 2018. She is a dual purpose canine for narcotic detection and patrol functions.
Canine Vehicle
K-9 patrol vehicles are equipped with specialized equipment to transport our dogs and keep them safe. The vehicles are equipped with alarms that notify the handler of the temperature inside the vehicle to assure the inside of the vehicles are kept at a comfortable temperature for the dog. The vehicles are also equipped with remote "door poppers" which allow the handler to release their dog in situations where the handler is in trouble.
